Because I've been practicing criminal law in the Sacramento region - both as a defense lawyer and as a prosecuting attorney - for 25years, I can help you protect your rights and reputation if you have been charged with DUI, spousal abuse, battery, drug sale or possession, assault, probation violation, robbery, burglary, or other violations in Sacramento, Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks, Folsom, Orangevale, Rancho Cordova, Elk Grove, and other communities of Sacramento County.
The Sacramento County court system is big, confusing, and intimidating. If you're facing criminal charges in Sacramento County, you need an attorney who knows the policies, procedures, and people of the Sacramento superior court and district attorney's office.Former Prosecutor Fighting to Protect Your Rights
I use my experience as a former prosecutor to build an effective defense strategy for each of my clients. Since most cases are settled through a negotiated plea bargain, my expertise can help you get the right agreement. If your case goes to trial, my record of trial success can be invaluable to you.
And my commitment to providing each of my clients with personal service means that I will not take your case and pass it to a less experienced attorney. The Legal Process
Each case is unique, but there are some aspects that all cases share as they move through the Sacramento court system. After the police make an arrest, there is an initial court appearance - called an arraignment - where a judge notifies you of the charges that are pending. If the D.A.'s office determines that sufficient evidence exists to move forward with the case, it files what is called a "complaint," a document that says that the District Attorney's office is filing charges. This is followed in the coming weeks by a pre-hearing conference, at which the defense attorney and the prosecutor review the facts of the case. It is at this point that an experienced attorney can negotiate a substantially reduced penalty or even get the case dismissed. If the case is not resolved by negotiation then it moves to the trial stage.
The complexities of the criminal legal process make it imperative to have a defense lawyer with experience, knowledge, and dedication to protecting your interests. Unlike some law firms that take on clients and then push them off to attorneys with little experience, I represent my clients through every phase of the defense process. In additional to the personal attention I give each of my clients, I also provide a full range of criminal defense support services. The investigators I partner with have the expertise and experience to get a comprehensive understanding of the case facts by reviewing the alleged crime scene and interviewing witnesses. If your case involves allegations of drug or alcohol use, the laboratories I partner with can retest blood samples and serve as expert witnesses at trialSacramento DUI Defense

Even though marijuana is now legal for personal use in California, the Sacramento police and sheriff departments will still arrest you for possession of large amounts of marijuana and any amount of other illegal drugs. In addition, you might also be at risk of being charged with the more serious crime of possession for sale. With my previous experience prosecuting drug-related cases in the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office, I know the laws regarding possession of drugs in California and can effectively and aggressively represent you through all stages of the legal process.Domestic Violence
When the police are called to investigate an alleged incident of domestic violence, they lean toward making an arrest. If you have been charged with domestic violence - or spousal abuse - I can protect your rights. I work with the best investigators in the region to interview all the people involved so we can present a strong and aggressive defense. It is important in these types of cases to contact a lawyer quickly. In many of the domestic violence cases I have handled, I have been able to gather information and obtain witness statements that have resulted in charges being reduced substantially or dropped altogether.
